EDUC-762: Assessment in E-Learning
Learning Objective 2
Learning Objective
Students will demonstrate their ability to plan and determine which solving technique is most efficient for solving a system of linear equations, by completing an online survey/quiz using Haiku with 85% accuracy according to the scoring key.
Activity
Students will watch tutorial videos I upload to the content of their course. They will practice graphing, solving using substitution, and solving using simple elimination strategies. Students will have the opportunity to live conference with me using WebEx. I will go through further examples and help clarify any misconceptions.
Assessment
Students will use the Assessment feature of Haiku to have their knowledge evaluated. They will have the opportunity to complete a Practice assessment in which feedback is immediate. After the practice assessment students will review, post questions and concerns, and have the opportunity for further feedback. A summative Exam will be used to evaluate final knowledge.
Tool Description: Haiku Assessment Feature
Haiku is a learning management system that school districts subscribe to. Having to pay for a subscription is one deterrent from utilizing this tool unless the school already subscribes. Haiku is comprehensive, so if you are already using it to organize your course an assessment there would be natural. Haiku features two types of assessments. You can create an Exam, where there is no immediate feedback and students may only attempt each question once. You can also create a Practice assessment, where students can get immediate feedback and retry the question until they are correct. Having both assessment strategies is vital due to the varying purposes of assessment.
