EDUC-763: Instructional Design for E-Learning
Learning Outcomes

Reflection
Instructional Design for E-Learning took me through the foundations of creating an online course for student success. I first needed to determine modules and objectives that I had for my students. From there, I needed to determine how I was going to assess student learning. Next I outlined learning activities that engaged students at each of the three types of activities (absorb, do and connect). Then I created a learning guide to aid students as they worked through the module. A syllabus was also created at this point. Finally transitions and connections were written out to make the course flow smoothly.
The design process helped me clarify the importance of each component of my course. The structure and transitions need to be carefully planned out so that students understand the course and learning is constant. A thoughtful preparation is necessary for a meaningful and successful course. All students need to be taken into consideration in determining an appropriate course of action and format of the course to benefit all learners. Universal design strategies are subtle but greatly impact student outcomes for the class as a whole.
Course Artifacts
The Course Overview page provides an introduction to the course I designed as well as the students it was geared for. The Course Alignment page shares the learning objectives and activities aligned with each. Sub-pages of Course Components offers sample activities, assessments, learning guides, and a syllabus.
